Connor & Officer Mark Hamilton
Connor, a 9-year-old cancer survivor who still experiences some tough side effects from the disease, has always wants to be a police officer. We thought Mark, a military veteran, would be a perfect fit for him. Mark has been a member of the North Huntingdon Township Police Department since 2009. Mark has a lot of fun ideas for Connor to experience as part of their long term friendship.
Connor was so excited to meet Officer Hamilton at the Department. For his induction ceremony, Connor received a tour of the North Huntingdon Police Department. He checked out a jail cell, put on a bullet proof vest, saw the CSI room and sat in the driver's seat in a police cruiser!
Officer Hamilton and his co-workers brainstormed a list of many creative and exciting experiences to inspire Connor. Connor already had the opportunity to attend the NHTPD motorcycle training and SWAT training. Coming up, Connor can expect to spend time with time with the K-9 officers, be officially sworn in as an honorary officer, receive a NHTPD uniform, observe the officers as they enforce traffic laws in North Huntingdon Township, and learn how a crime scene is processed. Connor has a lot of fun coming his way!
UPDATE: As of June 17th, Connor was sworn in as an honorary police officer — the youngest officer in North Huntingdon history!
This is a dream come true. Connor wanted to be a police officer his entire life...and now it's finally happening. Thank you!! -Connor's Mom, Marci
